give me some sugar

I've been out of the loop (or loopy) the last couple days. Monday I had my surgery for this. I got a call from the doctor today that it was benign. I'm still pretty sore and absolutely HATE how the pain meds make me feel. I'm trying to only take them before bed because the spinning drives me crazy. I've been up and around more today and went out to lunch, but I'm still pretty tired because I haven't been sleeping great. Heather got a funny video of me waking up in recovery. Apparently I've been watching too much Grey's Anatomy because I kept talking about Christina Yang and what she would do or let me do if she were there. Haha! I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to post it on Youtube. We'll see... ;)

I thought the rest of this week was going to be busy with work, but it turns out I'm only working tomorrow. Then for most of February it looks like I'll just be working two days a week. Normally I might be kinda bummed that I'm not working more, but I just got an email the other day that my Midpoint Review Presentation is scheduled for Friday, March 4. I've started to freak out a little, since all of my stuff needs to be in San Francisco two weeks before my presentation. That gives me a little less than three weeks to be ready. AND Spring Semester starts on Monday! Ahhh! So the days I'm not working or doing school work I will be super busy prepping for the presentation. Well I'm off to make a timeline and plan of all the things I have to do before then. Here goes nothing...

Wardrobe Wednesday: The Dany Girl

I ordered THESE shoes (in light tan) last night! I've been waiting for this moment for months! I couldn't believe they were half off! Plus, I googled for a coupon code and got an extra 10% off!

I don't have a personal Wardrobe Wednesday post for today, so I created this gorgeous outfit inspired by my new shoes. Now if I only owned the whole outfit too... :)

Seen It, Heard It, Read It

Seen It
1. Pushing Daisies

Jenny suggested this tv series to me. I had no idea what it was about when I started it, but I ended up loving it! I'm sad that it was only two seasons, but by the end of it I found Charlotte annoying, so maybe it was just long enough, haha.

2. The Biggest Loser

I'm so excited about the newest season of The Biggest Loser! I love how inspiring this show is! This season, my favorite team is Aqua! Courtney has such a positive attitude and she just radiates!

3. Inception

This movie was intense and a little hard to follow considering I was exhausted when I watched it. I'm pretty sure I understood it, but I do want to see it again when I'm more awake. It was a great story and I thought Leo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordan-Levitt were fabulous!

4. Golden Globes

Did anyone else watch the Globes last night? I was a little disappointed by some of the wins, but loved that The Social Network walked away with so many awards! Check out Heather's post for her best dressed list! I love it!

Heard It
Barcelona Absolutes

I haven't been listening to anything new in the last couple weeks. Mostly it's been Taylor Swift and Joshua Radin, but I've also been listening to Barcelona. I was so excited to find out that they'll be playing a show in Boise at Neurolux on February 16! If you're in the Boise area, you MUST go! You can buy tickets HERE!

Read It
Wilderness Skills For Women by Marian Jordan

I started reading this book last fall and then gave it to a friend. I bought another copy and finally finished it last week. Heather wrote THIS amazing post after she read it for the second time. It's such a powerful book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is going through a hard time in their life right now. Even if you're not, it's a powerful resource.

I had my first day of training today! It went so well! I feel like this is exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. Tomorrow is another day of training and then on Saturday we'll all go to the hospital to start. I'll be on my own Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm excited! These are a few pictures I took today when we role-played with the fake baby. It's disturbingly life-like, but makes for a great practice tool.

Wardrobe Wednesday

I found this tutorial (video posted below) a couple years ago and started making my own shredded t-shirt. I finally finished it a couple months ago and wore it for the first time on Friday.

Note: It doesn't actually take years to make, I thought I was finished with it, but decided I wanted to shred it more. It got put on my to-do list and forgotten about. It's really easy, but take plenty of breaks and massage your hands.

Like I said, I wore this outfit on Friday and almost froze to death taking pictures outside. I probably would have worn my black cardigan over this, but I couldn't find it and didn't want to cover up this shirt. I love it so much that I kind of want to make another shirt! Anyway, I felt like a rockstar in this outfit, especially when I went out later and put my faux leather jacket on.

I had to take my laptop to the Apple geniuses last week and I got it back on Saturday. So thankful for Apple Care! I've been getting all my paperwork and things in order for the new job. Training is this Thursday and Friday. I'll be doing newborn photos at the hospital with Bella Baby Photography. Although I'm nervous, I'm really excited to be doing something that's actually related to my interests!

Tomorrow morning I have a consult with a surgeon to get this taken care of finally. I'm so thankful to be back on my parents' insurance, even if it's only for 8 months. So hopefully sometime, in the middle of the new job and school starting at the end of the month, I'll have surgery.

I feel like I've been running all over the place and it doesn't look like life will be slowing down anytime soon. I'll do my best to keep up with regular blog posts! I hope everyone has a great week!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I wore this yesterday to an interview. It was simple, casual yet professional, and comfortable. I actually gave Heather this dress a couple years ago and she hasn't worn it much. She better watch out because I might just steal it from her. I love my new magnolia ring! Heather won some free jewelry when she attended a bazaar last month and she got it for me. My mom, Heather and I are hosting a Premiere Jewelry party in two weeks. They have amazing stuff! Let me know if you'd like a catalog. :)

Dress: Old Navy
Tank Top: Forever21
Cardigan: Forever21
Leggings: Papaya
Boots: Payless
